Blowin' In The Wind

"The wind blows where it wishes,

and you hear the sound of it,

but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.

So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." (John 3:8)

Yesterday, I was reminded of the verse above. I do have a hard time understanding what is good about a strong wind. Now, a light breeze, I believe, is good because it keeps the temperature from climbing to 100. A strong wind just wreaks havoc. (Wreaks Havoc are two words that sound cool together, don't you think?) My yard looks like it saw action yesterday. There are leaves all over my newly manicured yard and patio. My hay fever feels the effects of being fed, possibly, every species of pollen known to science. And my parakeet, Sunny, still isn't talking to me because she was not allowed full, caged, of course, access to her spot on the patio.

Today is a new day. The sun is shining, the sky is clear and clean. The air is calm and slowly warming up. Sunny has regained her outdoor position. She did give me her, "It's about time!" side glance but, really, she always looks at me that way.

I am thankful that I weathered the California Hurricane. Okay, so we don't get hurricanes, but I am California Sensitive to big winds that might rip a piece of siding (or a roof shingle) off. However, all is intact, and I am intact, and Sunny is back where she loves to be. JoJo slept through the whole thing. I should have been more relaxed, like JoJo, but I chose to be like Sunny and give the wind a fussy "Are you done yet?" side glance, several times.

I suppose today's calm does prove one thing. A strong wind is good WHEN IT STOPS! On that Sunny and I can agree. We can't ask JoJo. He is napping.

My little dog JoJo sleeping on the couch, lying on his left side, paws outstretched showing that he needs a paw hair trim.
