When did you know you could paint?

Drawing came first. I was born in Italy where art is a norm rather than a specialty. Not that everyone has talent but beauty on canvas is expected to be seen everywhere because of a rich art history. One day my buddies were drawing with chalk on the pavement. They dared me to draw something better. I sat down on the ground and sketched out a man's face. No one dared me again and I realized, at that moment, that I had something I could be good at and that I wanted to get good at.

When we came to the States I took art classes at school where I tried different mediums. Some people love water color or other forms

. . . for me it was oil at first dab.

Good question. It brings back memories.
